Nestled in a quiet corner of a most beautiful, newly landscaped garden in the town of Ilkley, Yorkshire, is the Horto garden room, a helpful sanctuary, somewhere calming to pursue the power of Pilates.
The benefits of Pilates exercise are widely accepted, especially for anyone fighting health issues, which is the case of Horto customer Audrey, following a traumatic ski injury that resulted in major leg and knee surgery. “After breaking my femur and with multiple knee injuries, the primary focus was to strengthen my shattered leg and improve the mobility of the knee joint after multiple operations. The Pilates equipment I have in the garden studio, such as the Reformer and vibrating plate, are low impact and have done wonders in the recovery process for strengthening both my leg and knee, but I still have some way to go” says Audrey.
The all year round, purpose built Horto garden studio and inspiring light filled interior with vibrant art, plants and Moroccan style cushions laid on a stylish oak floor, provides Audrey with the comfort and functionality to fully concentrate on her recovery and rehabilitation process through the power of Pilates.
Ellen Robinson from Horto adds “I think Pilates has become very prominent in the workout routines offered by most gyms, but the pandemic may have renewed our interest in low impact exercises that we can actually do from home. A garden studio can help in providing the perfect, peaceful setting to practice Pilates in the convenience of our own gardens”.
“I absolutely love the Horto garden studio, which I’ve christened my ‘Wendy House’ says Audrey. “The build quality and attention to detail is amazing. Gary, Ellen and the whole team are very professional and they take great pride in their work, involving you at every stage. I cannot recommend this friendly, local company highly enough, the whole experience was so much better than dealing with a big company and I will certainly be recommending them in future. Thank you so, so much!!!
