Horto Garden Room customer, Andrew from Ripon in North Yorkshire, intended his newly built garden room to be a perfect personalised man cave, an ideal space to chill out, relax and to exhibit his treasured items.
A signpost hangs outside to let everyone know about the rules of his man house. However, the impact of COVID-19, which has disrupted the norms of everyday working life, changed how and where Andrew did his job. Andrew explains “the garden room started as a relaxing space, but quickly turned into my home office during lockdown and continues to do so. Fortunately, the amount of light and the flexibility over the interior design has allowed for the space to be very flexible”.
Ellen Robinson from Horto Garden Rooms says “Before the COVID-19 lockdown the Office of National Statistics estimated that 70% of Brits had never worked from home, but fast forward a few months and around 20 million people have swapped the toil of a daily journey to the office for an easy 10-15 second commute to a makeshift workspace in their homes. However, this can bring its own problems and challenges, such as interruptions from neighbours, family, friends and even pets who fail to understand that just because you are at home, you still must work and continue with your job responsibilities. Ellen adds “the Horto garden office can be a much-needed private space, a quiet and productive working zone, which can allow you to focus on your work, totally”
Andrew sums up his thoughts on the garden room and Horto “the building itself has been exceptional and despite some of the worst weather in years, and an impending pandemic, Garry and his Horto team were outstanding from start to finish. Gary’s attention to detail shone through from the groundworks that needed to take place, through to the construction of the building. I really do appreciate all the efforts and attention that both Gary and Ellen spent on the preparation and installation of the room. I can’t recommend them highly enough”
