A retreat space is on the rise; the idea is to get away from the stresses of modern, daily life, unwind, relax and recharge your body and mind.
We’ve long known the far-reaching effect that the spaces in which we live and work can have on our health and well-being. This may explain why seeking a retreat to the ultimate soothing space, both in our professional and private life, is on the rise.
Research continually demonstrates that ‘downtime’ is crucial in replenishing our mental and physical energy to avoid burning out, but for most of us it is far from easy to just switch off from a busy and stressful day. However, there are ways in which this can be achieved.
Ellen Robinson from Horto explains “we all need some peace and a quiet, private space to relax and take a pause. It makes sense to give your brain some breathing room instead of filling every minute”. Ellen adds “much of the reasons why companies are facilitating a calm and peaceful area or ‘Recharge Room’ within their employee co-working spaces, lies in a mountain of data showing tired and mentally drained staff are not at their creative and productive best”.
John Middleton from Harrogate, North Yorkshire is a local business owner and motivational speaker who can understand both from a personal and business perspective the clear benefits of designated spaces in fostering creativity and innovation. “Having a Horto Garden Room, which is separate from my home, is a great place to relax, encourage original ideas and unwind”. John also notes “I fully appreciate from my business experience that a separate, designated area, which gives opportunities for less formal meetings to happen and where employees can relax and enjoy their breaks, is beneficial in both improving worker efficiency and creativity”
John adds “I’m delighted with my Horto created space; the company did a truly fantastic job and I think they are ‘light-years’ ahead of the competition. The company was also extremely helpful and supportive in every way; in addition demonstrated a huge amount of empathy toward all our special needs and wants. Gary really exceeded our expectations and we’re overjoyed with the end result”.
